Ingredients for Homemade Breakfast Cereal
How to prepare your cereal Preheat the oven to 270 deg F or 135 deg C. Mix the oats, wheat and bran together in a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, mix together the sugar, oil, honey and water until it forms a crunchy paste.Mix in the vanilla extract, small teaspoon of salt (if required) and additional flavourings (a large pinch of cinnamon or whatever you fancy, be creative). Mix the stirred contents into the first large bowl and continue to still until all the contents are well mixed together. Pour the evenly mixed contents onto a baking tray/dish. Bake the tray in the oven for 40 mins stirring half way through. Take out of the oven and mix in the dates (or your choice of fruit) and nuts. Bake for a further 10 mins. Take out of the oven after a total of 50 mins (don’t overcook it)! Allow it to cool then store in an airtight container. There you have it. Easy and fun. This cereal will stay fresh and crunchy when mixed with milk. Links |
